maybe somewhere far away
there's a place where i can stay
to understand a different point of view
maybe i could get a job
and leave behind this old facade
if only i could find me someplace new
this old house is burning down
the fire is spreading all around
and if i don't escape i just might
burn to death
the people here don't mind the flames
their lives continue just the same
they're happy as a pig in shit on fire
maybe if i rest my bones
and scribble out a few more tomes
then i can figure out what this life means
or maybe fire follows me
and i'm unfulfilled from sea to sea
a futile exercise in being free
maybe i could find a girl
that understands this burning world
and maybe she'll come fire walk with me
maybe we could find a home
some burned down place to call our own
and maybe fire won't be all i see
